What's missing from this picture?

The rooms are full of the cat who's not here ... and won't be.

Wonder how long it'll take before I stop seeing him every time I turn around?

I am sorry. Poor Feline Lord of the Universe.

And his humans thank you for the cuddles and care you gave him when we were shamefully deserting him for fun stuff.

Honestly, far too long. I still call Lucky by Toffee's name from time to time.

But like we talked about yesterday: James was loved and cared for and he knew that. So you can take comfort in the fact that you gave him a good home and a good life where he could be lord and master over two wonderful humans.

And, when you least expect it, some one will find a cat behind a bar and you will find yourself with an adorable, blind-in-one-eye, fluff ball who will help you stop missing him quit so much.

In the mean time, if you find yourself in need of furry cuddles, I could lend you an animal of your choosing. We have plenty so it won't be a problem to share, though the cats will be a little less receptive to the car trip than the dogs. And the ferrets can be a little hard to cuddle. But the choice is yours. :0)

You know where to find me if you need anything.

As long as you remember him, Carole, he will never be truly gone.

Thanks for that reminder. That seems to mean he'll live forever.

You keep seeing him because he's still there. And he will be, until he figures it's safe to leave you two on your own...

Thanks, Sam. And Patricia, I'm not sure he'll figure we're ever safe to leave on our own.
